Postman Delivers!!!!!
NEW VERSION OF SHOOT THE CORE IS HERE!!!!
After months of planning, testing, programming, shmupping, and sweating, STC version 2.0 has finally landed. January 27, 2007 is the start of a new era in covering shmups in all their vaired forms, from doujins to consoles to everything in between.
What this means for you is a better looking website, the ability for me to update quicker and easier, and the best feature: the redesigned PC shooter database. Now you are able to sort through all the games, and list them by developer, genre type, clones, or whatever else you fancy. Pretty neat, eh?
And all this shmuppy goodness is due in large part to the staff of Moonpod, namely Nick Tipping. HUGE thanks go to the excellent team of Moonpod for hosting and helping out in the design of the website. Any bugs, suggestions, comments, etc. be sure to drop a line either in the forum or via direct email.
Oh, did I mention the shirts? Read on........

That's awesome! To be honest, I never knew there was more than the blog. Gonna check it out real soon.
Well done, good sir, well done. I love it already.
I too thought STC was just this blog.... I must have landed here from Kotaku or something, and have followed STC for almost a year now!
will you ever build a list of console shooters, or will you stick to the PC databse?
Wow, I can't believe I neglected to link to the main site from the blog.....I'm such a NOOB!! Sorry about that folks. Problem fixed, sorry to keep you in the dark for a year!!!
@ Jeff:
Yes, there will be a Paypal option, and I've updated the blog post to reflect that.
As for console shooters, I think that shmups.com has that covered well enough in the Xenocide files. My main concern was covering the lack of information about doujin soft.
Yaaaaay!
Congrats on the new look and I hope you garner many new readers from the update!

I have a question concerning the must-have statuses of all the games. Many of the shooters have either been relieved of their medal status and some have gained new awards. Are these second impressions or a mistake on your part?
I have to commend you for giving the site a graphic overhaul! You should also consider updating the news section with a more refined look.
One more thing, is Shikigami No Shiro 3 superior to all of its predecessors and is it enjoyable? I seem to remember that Raiden 3 was inferior to many doujin shooters, thanks to its insipid bullet patterns.
Great work! One of best site dedicated to the shmup!
I'm loving the new look, Postman. I used to go here a while ago to find good shmups for my computer. Now that I have a decent gaming PC, I might actually be able to play more of the heftier ones. Way to go, man!
fan of shoot-em-ups to the maxxxxx !
and l'm so good at them lol
love them! and the new look POSTMAN
GREAT WORK ! NICE !
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
To address some questions:
Must haves: These have been reviewed and changed a bit based on the quality of doujin soft that's been coming out. I have a database FAQ coming soon and that will explain a bit more.
The news section will get an update to fit in with the rest of the site. That's on the things to do list.
I couldn't get SNS 3 to work yet...guess I'll have to wait for a Playstation port.
I was starting to wonder if it would ever arrive...but it looks like it's more than worth the wait. :)
Yeah, I apologize for the delay. I started announcing stuff too early. I find it amazing that roughly two people can co-ordinate from the US and UK to work on a project like STC, but trying to schedule over a distance like that can get hairy, esp. with Moonpod working on their games too.
