More Dreamcast Luv: THE!

Amid all this next generation nonsense, you need to spin your head 360 degrees and look backwards for some more shmup-lovin. One example would be Super Star Soldier released for the Virtual Console on the Wii, and the other would be the announcement of Trigger Heart Extension for the Dreamcast! The game is slated for a Japanese release on Feb. 22, 2007, and uses a type of "grab the enemy" mechanic. Thank you Dreamcast, for keeping shmups alive....

That sounds considerably promising. Speaking of which, do you like the PS2 or DC better? I think the DC has a better game library and this shmup ensures that.

Good question - that depends on if you include imports with both systems....the US Playstation 2 shmup scene is a wasteland, its only saving grace is imports, and they are mostly arcade ports.

The DC has some great exclusives like Border Down and Zero Gunner 2, plus current Naomi ports, so I'm going to have to go ahead and agree with you about Sega's console edging out the market on shmups.
