The World Cup of Shmups!!!!!

The hardcore folks over at the Shmups.com forum are holding a shooter compo that pits the best players from all over the world against each other in geographical based teams........this whole compo came about when team Italy challenged the regulars from Shmups.com to a friendly contest. Shortly after it ballooned into the SWC (Shmups World Cup), and it should be fun to watch for results.

Some of the teams include UK, Germany, United States, Sweeden, and Italy - and even some of those brackets are split into top and bottom tiers - so there are lots of participants. Sorry to say this isn't open to the general public, it's like an invitation only event. SWC runs over six weeks of gameplay and each week will focus on a different area of shmups (perhaps Cave one week, verticals the next, etc.) Points from each team will be tabulated until a final team can claim world domination in the end......

All I have to say is: Where is team Japan?!? Mysteriously silent!
