Next-gen round up

Two bits of information regarding the next generation consoles to report on:

First, Hudson has announced that R-Type will be included in the "virtual console" section of the upcoming Nintendo Wii. For those of us who haven't gotten our asses kicked enough by that game on other platforms, now's the time to give it a go on the big N's latest machine.

Second, and a bit more exciting, Bandai-Namco has listed a "new shooting game" in their Playstation 3 development lineup. Knowing how companies throw the word "shooting" around, this could be anything from what we're interested in, to an FPS, to a light gun game (another reason I wish the word shmup was more widespread). The only shmup that comes to mind when you say Namco is Xevious, but I doubt they would work on another sequel for that series.....
